“I understand that a member of our association has been using the Jellicoe Hall for bookmaking,” declared a member of the Christchurch branch of the Returned ■Soldiers' -Association at the annual meeting 11 to-hight “He has been warned by a member of the executive and he has been, prevented from using the telephone at the ‘ club, but he still loiters round ” -
The statement provoked an uproar and the meeting went into committee to discuss it.
