PLAZA THEATRE ROMANCE IN THE RAIN One of the most romantic and .tuneful musical comedies of the year was witnessed by Stratford audiences on Saturday at the Plaza Theatre. Starring Roger Pryor and Heather Angel, the film is one that appeals to all and one that should draw a packed house again this evening. The story deals with a modern Cinderella, a young girl from the poorer classes who wins a contest that gives her fame and riches. She loses her heart to the man who made all this possible for her but he is so engrossed in his work that, he fails to realise her charm. He even provides a Prince Charming for her and then the fun commences. It is not fill she is on the point of marry ing this Prince Charming, against her will, that Pryor realises he loves her.. Never before has there been such a delightful comedy with such beautiful girls, romantic Romeos, and dis appointed lovers. And_ it is all, clean fun and entertainment.
The supporting programme is excellent, including the latest Mickey Mouse cartoon. KING’S THEATRE
LILY TURNER I Ruth Chatterton seems to he cast invariably in those parts to which she can adapt herself admirably and give a fine acting performance. Such is the case in the picture, Lily Tur her, which will screen finally tonight a,t the King’s Theatre. The story is one of real life tragedy out despite the often sordid life she u forced to lead by circumstances produced first by a deserting husband and then another, full of kindness hut too fond of drink, there is a Pathetically human vein running through the whole story. It does not end in tin happy ever after style hut on the other hand there is no disappointment as, torn between love and duty, the first for a young engineer she meets and whom she loves with a pure love and the second for-the husband, seriously ill, whp looked after her in her distress. The supports are bright and vailed.
