HOARDINGS CONDEMNED
(To the Editor) | Sirj 1 read with surprise in The Post j'ou Wednesday .that the Stratford j Chamber of Commerce had .approved and recommended the suggestion .to ask the Railway 'Department to erect an advertising Hoarding across a vacant section between Broadway and the railway station. That.a body comi prised ot : , bu-sinejss men of the town should make the suggestion is pu'z ziiug indeed, airless, as I have heard it suggested, some Stratford retailers would 1 be please.l to secure’space on a hoarding in such a prominent posij'.tion. Be tin:.; as it may, my protest j is again t tin- c-vetion or more hoard 1 mgs in a country v, mi-, every main j highway, uiiu-'iy uad and vacant j section in a V< w n i- li orally plasi tercel with Hoardings-. They are an j eyesore and a, disgrace to any town.. Would it not bo far better for the section in question to be converted into a greensward and a few flower garden plots? That, would mean small ■ outlay and provide useful work for ; some of the unemployed men engaged ■ on borough work, ..and the re. j suit would no wed wntli while. ! Hoardings are an anathema to .cvery- | one but the blatant, and the, section i would not be improved ,in appearance | by the erection of one of these. _ ; 1 am, etc., j CITIZEN. 1 Stratford, November 9, 1?34.
