DEATH OF MR. S. B. HUNTER

Many Years in Stratford WELL KNOWN DENTIST INTERESTING CAREER The death occurred in Auckland last evening of Mr. Samuel Benton Hunter, very well known in Stratford and indeed throughout Taranaki as "Kikapo" Hunter. He was nearly SO years of age, and his death brought to a close a most interesting career. He practised as a dentist in Stratford from 15)02 until a tew years ago and since 1911 he had been associated in that profession with Mr. J. S. Lyons, the partnership being conducted under the name of Hunter and Lyonfi. Born at Newcastle on Tyne. England, the late Mr. Hunter spent his boyhood in that country, but when -till a very young man he crossed to the tiii'ited Slates. of America.

For | several years he remained in the i States mid then departed for New i Zealand, landing at Auckland in the I nineties. In 1898 he set up business 1 in Stratford and established branches of his profession from Inglewood to Wanganui. He became widelv known as the travelling dentist and for many years provided a dental service for residents in the growing townships and country districts. Eventually lie disposed of all the branches except Kaponga and Stratford and in litll the partnership of Hunter and Lyons came into being and has operated continuously. About ten years ago the late Mr. Hunter went on a health recruiting trip to America and he returned apparently in much better health. About, five years ago he retired altogether from active participation in the partnership .and since then had gradually declined in - health, his demise being not wholly unexpected. He leaves a grown up Family.
