WOOL AUCTIONS

STRONG MARKET MARKS RESUMPTION Press Association —Copyright. Sydney. Jan. 1. A very strong market marked the resumption of the wool auctions to-day. Competition was animated, with particularly strong demand from the Continent of Europe for all descriptions, of skirtings. Prices for good fleece wools by comparison with December rales were 7'- to 10 per cent, higher, while medium grades and skirtings showed an improvement of 15 per cent. Comebacks and crossbreds participated to the full extent in the advance. Excellent clearances were effected. Greasy Merino made to 28[d for 51 bales from Uralla. The offerings totalled 8834 bales, of which 8399 were sold. In addition 1245 bales were sold privately.
