Press Association.—Copyright. London, Dec. 1. The "Royal and Ancient" announces that the following definitions will become operative on January 1: A professional is any player who has played for a money prize or received payment, for playing or teaching the game of golf either by personal demonstration, lecturing or allowing himself to be filmed. The following are ineligible to participate in any amateur competition: Those who for remuneration allow their names or likenesses to be used for advertising purposes, permit their names to be published as authors of golf books, articles in which the authors report golf in which they are participating if journalism ,is not their recognised vocation, those who accept presents or are given facilities to buy golf merchandise at prices below usual charges for tber purpose of advertisement, also employees of golfing firms who play in tournaments and competitions with the object of furthering their employer's interests.
