Meeting of Committee
•The regular monthly meeting of the Stratford Racing Club was held on Tuesday, there being present:—Messrs. D. J. Malonie (ciiairuian), H.. Good, R. R. Tyrer, A. Nelson, S. Macalister, S. Pitt and. H. Cicland.
An apology was tendered on behalf of Mr. P. Skoglund and leave of absence for the meeting, was granted. The chairman and Mr. Pitt, on behalf of the Improvement Committee, reported that the road work from the turnstyles to the motor paddock had now been finalised and that tnuu-tr for improvements to the lawn baa' had been acquired and delivered. It was resolved that the application for a police room be approved and the matter of locality has been refer, red to the improvement committee for report at the next meeting. '•' The chairman reported that lE'lectric light would be satisfactorily installed for the meeting. . Materials for an qrnamentaj fence have been ordered and will be'erectod round the judge's'oox and .powering shrubs will be planted on the lawn. It was resolved that the painting of the top', rail and general matters be left in the hands of the Improve, ment Committee, with power to act and finalise/ The matter of horse accommodation and improved access to the loose boxes has been left in : the hands of Mr. H. Good, with power to act. Thee secretary read correspondence re membership with the Nieiw Zealand Racing Clubs' Association. This mat. ter was discussed and it was resolved'that membership and or affiliation with New Zealand Country Clubs' Association be deferred. Programme An attractive programme for the summer meeting, 1934, has been fram. ed, the total slakes being £2455. The principal event of the first) day is the Stratford Cup Handicap, of 300sovs, a gold cup to the value of 50sovsi, and 250sovs in specie. The open (six furlongs,) Flying will precede the Cup; this will be a de. cided advantage if the doublie machine is legalised as is anticipated. On the second day t'hore are two important events, the Malone Memorial of 230sovs and this Stratford Hack Plato of 200sovs, a handsome tropny to the value of 40sovs and lGOsovs in. specie. Train arrangements for January 1 and 2, 1934, were left in the handsj of the secretary, with power to act. It was resolved that the annual inspection of buildings be deferred until the October meeting. It was resolved that band' arrange, of the totalisator ' machine, number board and starting barrier be attended to in order to ensure that the same are in good working ordter for the forthcoming meeting. It was resivtd that band arrangements be left in the hands of the chairman. The treasurer's report disclosed a i substantial in the bank balance. I Accounts amounting to £l2 4s 'were j passed for payment.
