RACING CLUES TO AMALGAMATE
Te Kuiti and Waikato
BUILDINGS FOR SALE; COURSE TO BE USED FOR AERODROME An animated discussion on the advisability of permanent amalgamation with the Waikato Placing Club took place at the annual meeting of the Te Kuiti Racing Club, writes a Te Kuiti correspondent. The president, Mr. M. Rothery, was definitely of opinion that the town was not sufficiently Interested in racing to run a successful meeting. The credit balance of £9OO from last meeting was due to the result of a “gentleman’s agreement’’ with the Waikato Club to hold the meeting at Te Rapa. The arrangement had been thoroughly successful, and he considered it necessary to ratify that agreement of amalgamation and hold all future meetings at Te Rapa, or lose status as a club. He was not prepared to accept the financial responsibility of further racing at Te Kuiti.
Mr Vorcoe, of Hamilton, blamed some of the local officials, as the first race was late in starting at the last meeting on the local course. This was explained by the secretary as having been clue to too many acceptances for the safety of the ■course.
After deliberation it was finally resolved to amalgamate the Te Kuiti and Waikato Clubs and to mainlain their individual status and rac-
i ing days. | It was further resolved to offer the j buildings for sale, and offer the ! ground to the town of Te Kuiti, as | an aerodrome site, for which it is [ bei Mg used at present.
