Pereira would be wrestling in Whgn- ; garei on the 20th, the committee conI sidered that it would be almost im- • possible for the wrestler to be in I Stratford on the following night,' | A communication from the - Union j stated that “Billy” Meeske, who has ) been wrestling in Australia, would ! bo arriving in New Zealand on abodt | the 15th and the committee forthj w.th resolved to endeavour to secure a match between Meeske and either Varga, Pereira or Oswald. 1 Toward this end the president was j instructed to communicate with the j Union secretary, Mr G. Bennett, at j Wellington, and as a result it was [ ascertained that Meeske would be un- ! available on the proposed date pencilled for the Stratford contest. Mr. Bennett also stated that there had been a difficulty in arranging for Periera’s trip to Stratford, hut special arrangements had been made, allowing for rest, so that Pereira would be enabled to arrive In Stratford in ample time. 1 / Following this intimation it has been decided to stage a contest between Pereira and Varga. Nc urinations for matchings In tire amateur contests are required to be forwarded to the matching committee immediately as from the rapidijr increasing numbers of amateurs it Is seen that there will be a record number of entries and the officials request that the nominations be on hand early so that it .will enable them to present a tip-top preliminary programme in support of the main contest
