BOY’S HEAD TRAPPED
Hack Saws Used to Release Him
For nearly half an hour a 18 months old child was wedged in the ornamental ironwork on Tower Bridge, Lon don, while men worked with hack saws to release him. As they toiled a man climbed over the parapet of the bridge and tried to amuse the child by talking to him and giving him sweets, 'writes the Daily Mail. The boy was Edmond Wright, whoso parents live in Glasshouse Street, Stepney, and after being ex tricated he was taken in an ambul anoe to London Hospital, where he Was treated for shock and grazing of the neck. He was then taken home not seriously hurt.
Willi an elder brother, the boy was taken for a walk to see the river from the bridge, and it was while they were watching the boats that he pat his head through an aperture, of clover leaf design, to get a better view.
Then he found that ho could not get his head back and screamed. His mother and a number of people tried to release him, but; the child remained fixed, and police and bridge officials were called.
As it was found impossible to free the boy without cutting away the ironwork, hack saws were obtained, and part of the ornamentation, about three inches thick, was sawn away.
