Over the Teacups

o Mrs Jeffries was At Home on Fri day afternoon.

Mrs Geo. Hall was a bridge host ess on Thursday night.

Mrs Pitt had some friends for bridge on Monday night and Mrs Hunt entertained on Monday afternoon.

Mrs Vincent was At Home on Monday. Those present were; Mrs Porritt, Mrs Percy Thomson, Mrs Thorpe Mrs McDonald, Mrs McLean, Miss Porritt, the Misses A. and C. Uniacke.

Mrs Porritt entertained some friends at a most enjoyable bridge afternoon on Tuesday. Those present were; Mrs G. Hall, Mrs Pitt, Mrs Rutherfurd, Mrs Lyons, Mrs Truby King, Mrs W. Spence, Mrs Uniacke.

.The Avon Reading Circle held a meeting at Mrs Richards residence when Galsworthy's "Skin Game" was read. Those present were Mrs H. Good, Mrs Spence, Mrs Furrie, Mrs Edgar Young, Mrs Uniacke, Miss J. Bremner, Miss Furrie.

A reading circle met at Mrs G. Hall's residence on Friday night when "The Marriage of Kitty" was read. Those present were Mrs Ruthcrfurd, Mrs Richards, Miss Wilson, Miss Pon-itt, Miss Max Skoglund, Miss G. North.

Mrs Edgar Young entertained some friends on Wednesday afternoon to meet Miss Taylor and Miss McFarland. Those present were Mrs W. H. H. Young, Mrs J. B. Richards, Mrs Budge, Mrs Porritt, Mrs Good, Mrs G. Hall, Mrs H. C. Johnson, Mrs Marl'ell, Miss Porritt and Miss Marfell.

The committee of the Girl Guides held their monthly meeting at Mrs „ Steven's residence on Thursday. Mrs Moon (president) was unavoidably j absent. It was arranged to have | the annual general meeting on the ISth.

The usual meeting of the Mothers' Union in connection with the Anglican Church was held yesterday The members congregated in the church first for a short service, and then adjourned to the Parish Hall for a social afternoon. Mrs H. C. Johnson, who presided, opened the proceedings with a few well chosen words of welcome to the vicar. Those present were: Mrs. H. C. Johnson, Mrs E. H. Stephens, Mrs Irving, Mrs E. H. Young, Mrs N. H. Moss, Mrs Stan Lay, Mrs Alger, Mrs Jenkins, Mrs Kidd, Mrs Tunnicliff, Mrs Botcher, Mrs Pugh, Mrs Cutfield, Mrs Patterson, Mrs Wickstead, Mrs Erickson, Mrs Webbly, Mrs Bingham, Mrs Feake, Mrs Atkinson, Mrs Jones, Mrs Childs, Mrs Galbraith, Mrs Whitworth, Mrs Johnston, Mrs Hewitt, Mrs Dickson, Mrs Creagh, Mrs Campbell, Mrs Mills, Mrs Belcher. A dainty tea was served.

Miss Wilson, St) Mary's School, entertained some- young people at a delightful little dance on Monday when many old pupils were present, Miss Wilson received her guests in a becoming gown of black satin and lace. A delightful concert was held in Toko on Wednesday under the auspices of the School Committee. There were songs, recitation, pianoforte solos and some charming dancing by Miss Tui McCrea, who also gave a clever acrobatic performance. Three amusing comedies were acted, the last one by some Stratford amateurs of the Te Ope Club—Mrs McCullogh, Miss Curd, Miss C. Uniacke, Miss R. Furrie and Mr. Jardines. Miss Houle sang charmingly. The Stratford visitors were entertained at a very delightful suppor, but none of them were the happy possessors of a lucky number. The lucky numbers were drawn during the interval and caused much excitement.

Stratford's first Aero Club Ball was a huge success, (he Town Hall being packed. The decorations were fjuite outstanding and novel, the aeroplanes giving the right atmosphere.
