NEW POST OFFICE
Dunedin Tenders ONLY THREE LOCAL FIRMS | Win Work~biTPostponed? | Press Association—Copyright; Dunedin, Aug. 2G. j Only three local firms tendered for j the erection of the proposed new post j office building in Dunedin. Many ; firms did not tender because of tho, huge risk involved as the result of uncertainty ip regard to today’s prices which are affected by the conversion scheme and exchange inflation. , j As the result of this risk prices arc | •expected to bo higher than would | ordinarily be the case, and there ] Would appear to be some justification j for the belief which is hold in some | circles that the erection of the j -building may bo further postponed by ! the department. I Tenders were called as the result j of the-decision which was made re-; cehtly by Cabinet to proceed with important public works as part of the scheme for reviving industry in New Zealand, J - The building of a new post office ! has been looked, forward to for yeart , by Dunedin people, and Cabinet de- ! cision was received with general i satisfaction. . j
