Fell-time Work Urged hy • Taranaki Board __ f GAIN IN EXPERIENCE » Press Association.—Copyright. New Plymouth, July 10. Complaint of the headmasters of New Plymouth primary schools tliat the rationing of teachers was hawing a serious detrimental effect on children, and the Minister's reply to the complaints, were discussed at the Taranaki Education Board meeting today. The majority of the board supported the complaint, and decided to seek some other method of employing all teachers in Taranaki. Mr. S. 0. Smith, M.P., chairman, said that if (he department would allow the board freedom to expend the total amount of salaries now paid, it could provide full time employment for all unemployed teachers in Taranaki, numbering about SO, though possibly the present rationed teachers' salaries would be only £6O to £7O. They would gain, however, by receiving continuous experience. The department is to be approached on those lines.
