CHRISTCHURCH CITY COUNCIL

Final Result Press Association—Copyright Christchurch, May 11. With the completion of the official count the new city council consists of:— Labour (7): The Rev. J. K. Archer, Mrs. J. McCombs, Mr. J. S. Barnett, Miss Howard, Mr. J. Mathison, Mr. T. H. Butterfleld, and Mr. G. T. Thurston. Citizens (G): Messrs. E. H. Andrews, J. W. Beanland, M. E. Lyons. W. Hay ward, T. Milliken and T. Andrews. Independent (2): Mr. F. T. Evans and Dr. H. T. J. Thacker. Socialist: Mr. A. E. Annstrong. Seven hundred and twenty counts were required under the proportional representation system to elect the council. Miss Howard (Labour) has been properly enrolled, and it is not considered that her election will now be challenged.
