Credit Balance of Over £3OOO HIGHLY PROSPEROUS POSITION A credit, balance of £3388 11s was disclosed at the meeting of the Whanganiomona County Council. Councillors expressed their satisfaction at the position, and in moving the adoption of the balance sheet the chairman, Mr. C. N. Cleland, paid a high tribute to the clerk, Mr. F. G. Catchpole. who received congratulations. It was mentioned that in the many years Mr. Catchpole had been clerk he had never once presented a tagged balance sheet to the council. The position of the various riding and special accounts was shown as follow: Strathmore riding, credit £1035 5s lid; Pohokura riding, credit £215 5s lid; Central riding, debit £ 1167 5s 10c!; Tahora riding, credit. £1204; land fund, credit, £2511 12s 7d; Whangamomona cemetery, credit, £27 3s Gd; Tahora cemetery. credit, 11s 9d; Strathmore riding bridge fund, debit. £1 Us 10d; Wh :m g : uuomona township, credit £22 5s 9d; Whangamomona road grant, credit, £199 0s 9d; unemployment relief, credit, £293 15s 3d; rates subsidy (Finance Act. 1931), credit, £f,9o 15s Gd; road-making machinery Joan credit, 7s 7d; interest accounts, debit. £373 Is 4d and £1321 0s 10(1; total credit, £3388 Us.
