B.—The Treasury announces that owing to the Free I State’s failure to implement its j obligations the 20 per cent, duty i on live animals has been increased I to 40 per cent, and on bacon, pork, I other meat, butter, eggs, cream, poultry and game to 30 per cent. “It will be a black Christmas” says a member of the Cosgrave Party. “Turkeys will be abundant j at a few pence, but that is useless I to the turkey raisers.” , An Irish cattle-breeder says the new tariff is received with consternation.
