STRATFORD SELF-HELP CLUB

MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE The meeting of the committee of the Self-Help Club was held last night. These present were Mr. H. C Johnson (chairman), Mesdame s Sav. age, E. 11. Young and Black (secretary) and Messrs. W. L. Kennedy, E. Marfell and M. Priest. The gardening officer (Mr. Priest) reported that there was 20,000 cauli. flower, .cabbage and lettuce plants, with a further 450 lettuce plants donated by the Hospital Board, ready for distribution and transplanting. It was decided that Mr. Priest have the authority to canvass the merchants and residents of the tcwu for contributions in the way of seeds and plants, and to buy the balance re. quired for the needs. It is estimated by the club that there will be over 2,000,000 plants distributed this season. The following donations have beer received by the committee: Mrs. M. O'Reilly, skinner Koad, £1; L. H. jaruine, £1; a. Pitt, £1 Is; W. L. Kennedy, £1; Dr. W\ P. Gordon, £1 Is; R. H. White, £1; D. J. Matone, 10s (id; Stratford) Borough Council, £5. This made a total of £ll 12s 6d.
