SKILFUL DOPING

RACEHORSE FOUND LYING IN AGONY SYMPTOMS OF ALKALOID POISONING Rapid Recovery After Administration of Antidote Press Association. —CnpyHght. Received To-day, 10.30 a.m. MELBOURNE, Today,—The racehorse Valmist, engaged for two events at Werribee races yesterday, was found lying in a box in agony, the victim of a doping plot. Beside the animal was a bundle oi grass not placed there by the trainer, Mr. Fishwick. A veterinary surgeon found the horse displayed symptoms of alkaloid poisoning, but owing to the skilful administration of another preparation, which had dried up the saliva, a swab could not be taken. The horse recovered rapidly after being given an alkaloid antidote.
