CHRISTCHURCH, To-day.—At the trial of George Thomas Mauncer, charged with placing an explosive on the Tees with intent to harm Captain Anderson, the prisoner gave evidence that the bomb was a dummy and could not explode. He admitted putting it on the Tees, but only to "put the wind up" the captain, to whom he intended no harm. The case is proceeding.
