ALTERATIONS TO ROOF At the meeting of the Education Board at New Plymouth yesterday the architect, Mr. Moore, stated that though la considerable amount of maintenance and' repair work had been done tc the asbestos tiled roof at Stratford main school it was not satisfactory. He considered the time had arrived for seriously considering its replacement. The cost would pro. bably be over £SOO. Mr. McAllister said he did not consider it would be advisable to expend £SOO en the roof when the whole school required remodelling. It was resolved that the architect prepare an estimate of the cost of alteration to the roof.
lhe request of the Midhirst committee to use slates ■as an economy measure was referred to Messrs. Val entine and McAllister.
