FOOD PRICES

Russia Buying Tea

DUNEDIN, Today.—Several breakfast foods manufactured in New Zealand are likely to be reduced in price in about a week’s time. The reason for such expectation is Hie frugality cf housewives. The good oldtime oatmeal is much more in demand now that economy is forced upon the people. Another move in the markets is actually operating. There i« a tendency of a rise at Colombo of (he better class of teas. Russia is reining in as a buyer on a larger scale, and, but for heavy stocks held in England, which supply that demand in the meantime, the Dominion would now lie paying greatly increased prices for these teas. It will lake a while for England tjo clear her stocks and resume big buying in Colombo.
