EXTRA RELIEF FOR UNEMPLOYED

STRATFORD DEPUTATION TO MR. JESSUP Representatives of the unemployed of Stratford yesterday went to New Plymouth and gained a successful interview with Mr, Jessup, acting-chairman of the Unemployment Board, as a result of which Mr, Jessup has arranged to call in at Stratford tomorrow, and go further into the case of extra relief money for the unemployed of Stratford; j and district.

Messrs. Holmes and McDonald stated that they received a sympathetic hearing from Mr. Jessup, who promised if it could be proved that extra relief was needed it would be pi ovided. He had met a committee of business men in New Plymouth, headed bv the Mayor and Mr. S. Smith, M.P., and a strong appeal had been made by them for an increase in the weekly allocation.
