BLAZE AT MARTON

o RESIDENCE DESTROYED Fire totally destroyed the residence of Mr. G. W. Francis, Bond Street, Marton, on Monday night at 8.45 and except for a few articles of furniture everything was lost. Mrs Francis was in her bedroom prior to the outbreak and hearing r, noise in the kitchen she went out to see flames issuing from a cupboard near a chimney. The alarm was immediately given and the Marton Fire Brigade was called out. When the firemen arrived the flames had obtained a good hold and it was. necessary to run out 1000 feet of hose before the flames were checked. By that time the house was practically gutted and it was impossible to effect a saye. Fortunately the night was calm and the adjoining houses were noFeven scorched. The building was owned by Mr Francis and Was insured for £SOO. and the contents for £2OO with the Alliance Insurance Company.
