, Press Association,—Copyright. ■NEW YORK, Wed.—Mr. Roosevelt's favourable position in nis aspirations for Democratic presidential nomination suffered a 1 setback when the California primary/gave a plurality of 200,000 for the Speaker of the House of Representatvies, Mr. Garner.' Mr. Roosevelt was second with 158,000, and Mr. Al Smith third with 131,000. Mr; Garner thus controls California's 44 votes at the Democratic national convention.
