The Education Department notified that where men were employed on relief works under the Unemployment Board's No. 5 scheme, the Government did not accept any liability in case of accident or injury to or the death of any man. The controlling authorities therefore were recommended to insure such workers in accordance with the Workers' Compenaatton for Accident Act. I Employment may be found for registered unemployed male teachers under Scheme 5 as additional assistants in schools, providing it is found practicable to operate on the ration basis of two, three or four days a week under the ruies of the scheme, according to advice received by the Taranaki Education Board from the Education Department. The employment was to be given through the Labour Department and the amount to be obtained from the Unemployment Board, as provided under the Unemployment Act.
