DECISIVE WIN
SCHOOL FOOTBALL STRATFOFiD T.H.S. v. WANGANUi The match between the Stratford Technical High School and Wanganui College teams at Wanganui yesterday resulted in a decisive win for School The final score was 18 points (three tries converted and a penalty goal) to three points (try). The game was played under ideal conditions. The players on each side were almost equal in weight and size, with the School forwards perhaps a shade heavier all round. In the opening stages College played brightly, and School were kept on the defence for some time. The home team scored first, registering a try, which was not converted, but the first spell ended with the scores even, School scoring a penalty goal. On resuming play, School wakened up and played a better game, scoring three tries, all of which, together with the 'penalty kick, were converted by Pat Pastier, who was the outstanding player on the ground. Sutton, Jones and McCready scored tries for the School and McElwain for College. The superiority of the visitors was undoubted in the later stages of the match, in which the play was fast and opeu.
The principal of the School (Mr. A. H. R. Amess), who witnessed the match and returned home to-day, was very pleased with the team, who gave a bright exhibition of Rugby, and worthily upheld their reputation. The team went on to Feilding to-day in charge of Mr. F. Bowler, ana play the Agricultural High School represent atives to-morrow.
