Malone, was a passenger by the mail train this morning for Wellington. • * * A very enjoyable afteroon was spent at the golf links last Friday, when the lady members played the qualifying round for the Boon Cup. A very delightful afternoon tea was given by Mrs. Blair and Mrs. Mark. Thosa. present were: Mesdames Curtis, Fryday, Green, C. Williams, Burmester, Budge, Allen, Knewstubb, Robinson, Ryan, Seyb, J. Boon, Bowler, W. Williams, Blair, Mark, Bishop, W. Boon, Keller, and the Misses H. Penn, Malone, Chadwick, G. North, Anderson, J. Henry, Sangster and Walker.
A Nottingham girl, Miss W. L. Feber, of Girton College, Cambridge, is the only woman among the wranglers at Cambridge this year. She shares the honour with twenty-eight men. Miss Feber has taken the course to wranglership without the aid of scholarships, but a Nottingham major scholarship awarded to her after passing the Cambridge entrance examination was honorary.
Mrs. David Nathan (Auckland), who had been elected delegate to represent New Zealand at the 17th Zionist Congress, now in progress at Basle, was unfortunately prevented by indisposition from leaving London, says a correspondent. Mrs. Nathan's place has been taken by Dr. Alexander Goldstein, who visited New Zealand a few years ago on behalf of the Palestine Foundation Fund. There are 250 delegates at the conference, and it is expected that 2000 visitors from all parts of the world will be present.
WEDDINGS ROSE—ROSE The well-known New Zealand track and cross-country athletic champion, Randolph Rose, fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Rose, Northland, Wellington, was married last Saturday by the.. Rev. J. Davie at Knox Church, Mas-" terton, to Doreen, second daughter of Mrs. Rose and the late Mr. A. M. Rose, of Upper Plain, Masterton. COUTTS—HOWARD The wedding took place at Stratford on July 8 of Kathleen Annie, youngest daughter of Mrs. T. Howard, Invercargill, and the late Mr. M. Howard, Manaia, and J. Coutts, Normanby. The bride, who was escorted by her brother-in-law, Mr. W. Parish, wore a pale blue georgette frock, ankle-length, which fell in peaks. She wore an embroidered veil that was held in place with a wreath of orange blossom, which hung in bunches over her ears. She carried a horse-shoe bouquet. The bride was attended by her friend, Miss Ivy Petch, as bridesmaid, who wore an apricot satin frock, and a felt hat of the same i shade was caught off the face with a trimming of small flowers. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr, A. Coutts, as best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the house of the bride's sister, Mrs. W. Parish, Skinner Road. Later in the day the couple left by train on their honeymoon. The bride wore a brown chic tweed ensemble with hat, shoes and stockings to match. NEW ZEALANDERS ABROAD Miss Letty Levien, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lindo Levien, late of Napier, is going to Le Zoute, on the Belgian coast, in August. She is to stay with Mr. and Mrs. Ching, of Wellington, who, with their family, are spending part of the summer there. Mr. Ching is a leading member of the New Zealand Society in London. I
