TRAGEDY AVERTED BY WIRELESS

POISON WARNING BROADCAST LONDON, April 4. A possible poison drama has been* averted by the agency of the British Broadcasting Corporation, the help of which was enlisted in a strange episode. The B.C.C. were asked to broadcast a message for the police of Bradford, by whom information had been received that two women had taken, away poison instead of medicine from a Bradford chemist’s store by mistake. They had gone iffto a chemist’s together at 8 p.m. and asked for two bottles of medicine used for “slimming.” Tlieyleft the shop, but within a few minutes an assistant noticed that the women had carried away two bottles of poison by mistake. He rushed out into the crowded street, but the women had disappeared. From their dress it is supposed that they may have bean domestic servants. Bradford city police were informed, and police headquarters throughout Lancashire and Yorkshire were also notified. Hardly an hour had passed before tbe warning was issued from the northern regional broadcasting station. The women were asked io communicate with the nearest police station. No reply has been received, but no great anxiety is expressed, as the bottles taken by mistake were clearly labelled poison.
