TROUT LIBERATED.
MANY TAKEN FROM- HOLE. WORK ON' BUTTER-FACTORY DAM During operations carried out by officers of the Hawera Acclimatisation Society in a deep water-hole near the Eltham Butter Factory, hundreds of trout, ranging in size from young fry to six and seven pounders, were netted, and later liberated higher up the water-way. The hole was past a dam used in connection with the working of the factory, and besides the large number of trout found, which were in excellent condition, several large eels were taken from the pool which was dried out in order to allow concreting work to be carried out on the dam structure. it Is reported that 2000 trout were taken from the hole, but it is doubtful if so large a number, taking Into consideration the fact that many were of good size, were found in such a small place.
