FARMERS MAY LOSE SEASON’S CROP

SHIPMENTS OF WHEAT IN DANGER HEAVY FLOODS THREATEN RAILWAY STORE Reed. 9.45 a.m. SYDNEY, This Day. • i A CLOUDBURST at Alderthan, in the Riverina district, flooded a large area to a depth of six feet, in the neighbourhood. \'d The Bygoo and Mirool creeks are swollen for 20 miles, and residents fear the southern portion of the town will be washed away.

To-day they are refuging on the northern heights. No lives have been lost, but the damage is extensive. Trains are at a standstill, and farmers are concerned for the safety of the railway shed, filled with many thousands of sacks of wheat. If the water enters they will lose the fruits of the whole season’s work.
