BROADCASTING

NOTES ON PROGRAMMES Miss Cicely Audibert, soprano, ot Christchurch, who is touring the New Zealand stations under engagement to the Broadcasting Company, will be featured on lYA’s concert programme this evening. Mr. Arthur Wright will present a series of bass-baritone songs. Miss Edna Langmpir, a very versatile entertainer, will be beard in piano novelties and vocal; foxtrots. Comic songs will be sung by Mr. W. H. Pearce. The orchestral octet will present a variety of selections and a gramophone lecture-recital will be given by a ■ commentator. The Wellington City Salvation Army Band, under Bandmaster Scotney, will provide a programme for 2YA. A popular entertainment may be expected. The assisting vocalists will be the Melody Four, Mrs. Allwright (soprano) and Miss Molly Withers.

Miss Marjorie Alexander, a very brilliant young pianiste, will be heard from 3YA. The Studio Octet’s programme will include ‘ Hero s March (Mendelssohn), the overture to “Norma,” “Melodies of Grieg ( al ‘ ranged by Mr. Harold Beck), incidental music to “Monsieur Beaucaire,” Ames’ “Harvest Festival,, “Folk Song and Fiddle Dance,” “Rigadon” and “Roman Revels," The vocal portion of the programme will be provided by the Grand Opera Quartet, whose items will Re, of, an opera-tic-classical nature.
