Mr. Hugh Daily, New Plymouth went to Wellington to-day.
Mr. W. Huse, who has been staying with Mr. S. A. Ward, returned to Wellington to-day.
The Rev. T. Skuse will take the services at the Whitely Memorial Chui'ch, New Plymouth, to-morrow.
Maj*r Sir Douglas Hall, D. 5.0., of the Coldstream Guards, arrived at Auckland by the Maunganui yesterday on a holiday visit.
The Rev. J. Boothroyd, of New Plymouth, arrived in Stratford yesterday afternoon. He will take the services at the local Methodist Church on Sunday.
Mr. Winston Churchill has undertaken to make a lecturing tour of the United States in October and November. One of his subjects will be the future of the English-speaking peoples.
News has been received of the death in Wellington of Mr. Michael Foley, an old and respected resident of Stratford. The late Mr. Foley was the father of Mrs. Arthur O’Sullivan, Cardiff, and Messrs. W. R., Frank and Maurice Foley, of Stratford.
Taken suddenly ill while attending the Druids’ euchre tournament on Thursday evening, Mrs. Mary tnzabelli Dunn, aged 64, died a few hours later in the Hawei’a Hospital. Deceased, a Napier resident, had been visiting her husband in hospital at Hawera and, it is understood, was staying with relatives. An inquest will probably be held.
