TUTUTAWA NEWS
Quite a shadow was cast over the district last week when it became known that Mrs. Jackson, wife of Mr. J. Jackson, nad passed away. The deceased lady was a young woman who had been ailing for some time; consequently her death was not altogether unexpected. The late Mrs. Jackson, who came to reside in the district about 18 months ago, was of a quiet and unassuming disposition, and had made many friends. She will be much missed, and heartfelt sympathy is expressed for her bereaved husband. The funeral, which took place last Tuesday, was a large one, practically every family in the district being represented. The Rev. J. McGregor officiated at the graveside. The next item of interest to take place in Tututawa is the MangaehuStratford Sheep Dog Trial Club's annual dog trials. Mr. R. Cony had the misfortune to have his house burned to the ground in the early hours of Friday morning. Mr. Corry, his mother, and Mr. J. Robb, who were the only occupants of the house at the time, escaped uninjured. The many friends of Mr. J. B. Norris, who has been an inmate of the Stratford Public Hospital for some time with a broken leg, will be pleased to hear that he is making good progress towards recovery, and hopes to be back home again shortly. Miss Ellerum, Feilding, who has been spending a holiday with her sister, Mrs. C. White, has returned home. Mr. J. Riordan, Mosgiel, has returned after spending a holiday with Mr. and Mrs. J. B. 'Norris.
