Ingenuity.

A good story is told of the keenness and enterprise of dormant talent in Egmant Village, says the 'lngle-mood Times' correspondent. Upon opening up his violin case to examine things after a long silence the artist discovered that his haw was minus a good many hairs. As the first orchestral practice was to take place that evening the ingenius man caught and backed 'Major', the old white hcmse, up to the back door. held his head while he suffered the indignity of having his tail pulled with which to mend the damaged bow. With the aid of m pocket knife the mother-o-pearl fittings were prized out; and the required hairs were scraped and placed in position. With the 'job' completed a very good bow was constructed, and so the artist was able to participate in the practice. The bow has since been declared equal if no better in tone to that which his sister made a special trip to New Plymouth to buy.
