MAGISTRATE INFLICTS FINE. JURIES CRITICISED. ASHBURTON, This Day. At the Police Court, Wesley Dobson was fined £25 and £5 Is costs for intoxication while in charge of a car. His license was cancelled for fifteen months and he was also convicted anti ordered to come up for sentence for negligent driving. The case was ihe outcome of a collision in tiie Borough on Monday night. The Magistrate, Mr C. R. Orr-Walkor, said accused wad fortufiat; that he had not killed someone, but perhaps after all he was unfortunate in not having killed someone, for ini that case he would have gone before a jury, and no doubt would have be p n let off. Juries were not helping to put business of driving while intoxicated. Their decisions were noticeable throughout New Zealand. Fortunately Magistrates had the opportunity of endeavouring to stop iren driving while intoxicated.
