FIRST SHIELD MATCH. AVON BEATS STRATFORD. Conditions were far from favourable in Strafford yesterday for the opening of the Shieln Competition when Avon met Stratford on the Avon green. A light rain set in as the first iieads were played and continued more or loss throughout *the game. Seven rinks were engaged and Avon won by a margin of 60 points. Details of play are as follows:—.
