Town Bird is now trained by M. L. Lipsey. * * * Trojan Melody who won the Pahiko Hack Handicap at Otaki last Friday, is a three-year-old black gelding by Hunting Song from St. Helen, and is trained by G. W. New, at Awapuni. He is in good order it present and looks like adding to is winning list again soon. Antique is pleasing his trained on the Te Aroha tracks lately. Bright Glow ig reported to be doing nicely in her work at Hawcra. *• * # a Mendip is standing up io his work well at H'awera. » «• * Black Maire, in' A.. E. Press Association —Copyright. MELBOURNE, October 15. For the Caulfield races to-day the weather was fine and bright. There was a fair attendance and the going wa s good. The Caulfield Cup candidate Second Wind had an impressive win in the Herbert Power Stakes. This is Trainer Holt’s seventh success in this race. Glare put up it s best performance in Melbourne to date. Carradale was unlucky, being cramped for want of galloping room. Guy Mutineer was seventh early ip the Moonga Handicap, but finished best and won brilliantly. He is engaged in the cup and is trained by the former New Zealander, Dave Price, whose son Bert trains Byron. The cup candidate Shadow King won’ the Coongy Handicap comfortably. This is his first win in eleven months. The time is a record. Waicullus pulled up lame and is not likely to run in the cup. Soulton failed after having every chance.
