BORROWED MONEY. ONE THOUSAND MILLIONS. A resident of Sydney has written the following amusing parody on "Ye Mariners of England," which has a direct bearing on the depression in Australia and the craze there for borrowing money;— • . Australia's Motto. Ye Bankers of Old England Who sit at home at ease, List to the cry for help that comes From far off Southern Seas; Advance Australia Money So we don't have to sow, But merely reap the benefit Of the money that we owe And we'll pay you what you lend us With the money that we owe. Australia has a motto, "Tis known throughout the World, "Advance Australia Money" On our banner is unfurled. V/hat is a thousand millions On which to come and go Just put another "one" in front And add another "O," And we'll pay you what you lend us With the money that we owe. Australia needs no bulwarks - No towers along the steep; What Australia needs is money, So we can eat and sleep, And journey out to Randwick Then see the Easter Show And buy a Yankee motor car, To Yankee pictures go, m And we'll pay you what you lend us I With the money that we owe. f ''Advance Australia Money" If you decline with thanks Don't think that it will make us sore, We've always got the Yanks. Australia Money," "Advance Australia Fair," You can't advance too much, my lads, "Australia will be there," And don't be scared, my bonny boys, Of course you always know We can pay you what you lend us With the money that we owe.
