TOKO NOTES.
BACHELORS' ASB BALL. The Coronation Hall, Toko, last night presented a gay appearance, the occasion being the bachelors' and spinsters' ball. There was a large gathering present including mail) ' : -nors from the surrounding districts. The hall was beautifully decorated with coloured streamers. A number of novelty dances wan held. The winners of the various novelty dances were: Mcute Carlo waltz .No. 1, Mr and Mrs Kemp, Monte Carlo No. 2., Mr McDonald and Miss Mackay. The winners of the balloon dance were Mr McDonald a'ad Mrs Burn. In the number dance, the winners "were Mr Holdom and Miss Drown. Tho winning number for a box of chocolates was wcu by Mr H. Were, No. 20. Quite a number of old-time dances were done and were very much enjoyed. Before presenting the prizes, Mr G. Were, in a brief speech thanked the audience for their support. He hoped that there would be a surplus from the night's gatherng, a'ad being chairman of the hall committee, he could say that' the surplus money : was to be donated to the hall fund, to provide mirrors for the ladies and men's dressing rooms which are very much needed. The supper, which was very enjoyable, was :'<„]. the hands of a •wiling band of spinsters and bachelors. For the dance, Scott's Qrciusira supplied excellent music, while the I Misses Griffiths and Loving nhtyed extras. Mr G. Were carried out the duties as M.C. in' an efficient mr.'.uier, and kept the dances going merrily until the,, early hours of the morning. !;
