SLY GROG SELLING

-- ****** HEAVY FINES IMPOSED " WELLINGTON, July 10. Substantial penalties were imposed by Mr E. Page, S.M., this afternoon, on two persons who appeared at the Magistrate's Court on sly-grog charges, as the result of a raid made by Senior-Sergeant 11. H. Butler and a police party on a house nt 253 Willis Street on Tuesday night. Accused were William Pain, aged 23 years, and Agnes Price, alias Davis, aged 30 years. Pain pleaded guilty to the selling of liquor without a license and the female accused to being privy to the sale in the house of which she was an occupier. Each was lined £4O and costs.
