OBITUARY

WiILLIAM HESUOP. HASTINGS, This Day. The denth occurred of Win.. lieslop, a Hawke's Bay pioneer, and a) Maori War veteran. He was born in Blackhill, Northumberland, England, in 1845, and came to New Zealand ten years later. At one time ho was owner of the Omaranui Estate where an historical battle fought. Ho was one of the officials of the first agricultural show in Hawke's Bay in 1863, and before his retirement off many awards in successive shows. Deceased acted as judge of sheep and horses. His wife predeceased him five years ago. He. leaves two sons, G, Heslop (Wairoa) and Harold Heslop (Kaikoho), and three daughters, Mesdames S. ,i. Bennett (Hamilton), Ida Messenger (Buckland), Florence Heslop (Hastings).
