STRATFORD WINTER SHOW
GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING. i There was an attendance of twenty members of the general committee of the Stratford Poultry and Winter Show Association’ at Mr T, Smith’s rooms, last night, and the President (Mr A. J. Davey) occupied the chair.
The President explained that the object of the meeting was to arrange for the canvassing for entries and to bring the members of the various committees together for that purpose. He emphasised the fact that at some of the local shows there was a shortage of entries in the root section, wMdi required particular attention. CANVASSING.
Members agreed that organisation was all that was needed to bring the display up to th e standard of last year. Mr Max Knox said he would work the Huinga and Te Popo districts and_ arrange to collect the exhibits. It was resolved to write Mr C. Leatham and Mr Aylward, asking them to organise the Tuna district. Mr A. W. King has the Auroa district already in hand.
Other districts will he attended, to as follows: Mr J. H. Ward (Mahoe), Mr J. M. Steiner and Mr J. Stewart (Cardiff), Mr Reg. Welling- n ton a'ad Mr J. Songster (Wharehuia), Mr A. T. Salzburger (Lowgarth and Mangatoki), Mr T. Kirkwood (Stratford), Mr E. Bayly (offer to carry exhibits from nearby districts) (, Mr T. Murray and Mr Russell Sextus (Toko), Mr L. Leydon (Huinga), Mesjsrs Gibbons Bros, (Pukengahu), Mr M. Gernhoefer - (Douglas). Canvassers will also take entries for any of the other sections i*a the schedule, and endeavour to arrange for the cartage to the Show. New members were elected as follows: Mr J. L. Weir (Bltham), Mr P. Wisneski (Climie Road, Ngaere). Mr M. Gernhoefer’s cup for the best trusjs of ensilage ia valued at five guineas, not three guineas as appeared in the schedule. GOOD PROSPECTS. The President reported that the whole floor of Messrs Kleeman and Bishop’s was concreted, which would be more satisfactory thaa in the past.
A working bee was arranged for Monday, June 30, commencing at 10 a.m. The President reported on his visit to Palmetiston North, and the applications for space *by sideshow men. He was not able to agree to all the requests, as already the Association was nearly full up; As far as Stratford’s interests were concerned the final arrangements were satisfactory. Poultry matters generally were thoroughly discussed.
It was also satisfactory to note that Mr Davey had been appointed as one of the two vice-presidents of the Association for the ensuing
year. The next meeting of the general committee will b e on Monday night ♦next.
