OBITUARY

SIR GORDON GUGG-ESBERG RUGBY, April 22. Brigadier-General Sir George Guggesberg has died at Bcxhill, aged 61. Early this year his resignation as Governor and Commander-in-Chief of British Guiana was accepted on the ground of ill-health. He held a similar office in the Gold Coast from 1919 until 1927. When he retired from the Gold Coast 30,000 people lined the streets to bid him goodbye, for under his government the country had made wonderful progress.
