BLOCK OF BUILDINGS BURNED

BIG AUCKLAND BLAZE. Press Association —Copyright, AUCKLAND, This Day. A fire at 2 o’clock this morning made a clean sweep of a block of old buildings used as factories between Exmouth and 'Streets, off Newton Road. These included Allen and Bibert's fcabinet makers, Tyler’s upholjstery, the Royal Clothing Factory, Moore’s boot factory, Young’s brass founder and Coo per Is wire factory, and a building used for manufacturing ointments. The fire in its early stage was a' huge conflagration, but the brigade leaved a two-storey residence, the occupants of which, assisted by neighbours, removed the furniture effects. The telephone and telegraph services were disconnected by the destruction of poles and wires.
