ANTARCTIC HEROES
THEIR MEMORY TOASTED LONDON, Jan. 18. A huge Weddell seal, carved in ice, was placed before Admiral Skelton, chairman of the Antarctic Club, at a dinner at the Cafe Royal. The toast of those who wont to Antarctica and had never returned was honoured in silence. Admiral Skelton, rising at nine o’clock, toasted the Antarctic explorers scattered throughout the world. lie stated that a similar toast was being honoured in Australia and other places simultaneously.
Mr D. K. Denham, director of the Scott Institute at Cambridge, recalled that then* were four expeditions at present in Antarctic, the largest number since 1!M0. He especially referred, to the activities of airmen and mentioned that the S r Douglas Mawson expected In .light and establish Dfivnurship to a terrtory which he discovered and which v.as the basis of all his expeditions. Captain H. Arm ago, of the Discos* cry expedition of i!H)l, was expected to be present.
