the salaries question
’ AtiCELAND, Oct. 7. At the annual reunion of the Auckland Postmen’s Welfare Club on Saturday night the Hon. J B. Donald said “One receives many knocks as. a Postmaster-General and they mi use one to wonder whether the game is worth the candle. Replying to an interview, when an increase in salary would be made, Mr Donald said: “Nothing would_ please me better than to be able to give it. 1 will not bq favourable to a reduction in the telephone charges until it, comes about. I have been hauled over the coals by certain members of Parliament who consider that there should be a reduction in the charges. I will
