CLEARING UP

TARANAKI RUGBY UNION. SEASON’S LAST MEETING. The management committee of the Taranaki Rugby Union held its last meeting for the season last flight, .when outstanding matters were, cleared up. JUNIOR COMPETITIONS. Mr Moyes asked if it was intended to do anything regarding the junior competition in the north. Mr Master s said the matter of the junior competitions throughout the province should ho considered. The matter was too big to deal with that night, and there should he a special meeting. The chairman: What is the trouble. Are the clubs not taking an interest in, their junior teams. Mr Masters; It is a matter of lack of organisation and co-ordina-tion. Mr Moyes said the northern competition was a washout, owing to forfeits. Mr Moves and the chairman were appointed to call a conference in the north, am.d Messrs Masters and Young for the Central Division. SUBUNION MATCH. Teams representing Tainni and Whangaraomona Sub-Unions met at Stratford on August 17th, and had a vex'y poor gate. Application was made by both teams for a grant to help to meet expenses. It was decided to make a grant of £5 to each sub-union, the grant being made as a means of encouraging football in the back country, the present case not to be taken as a precedent. GENERAL. Failing the president no chairman of committee attending, Mr B. H. Young will represent the Union at a social at Inglewood this evening at which’ the first junior championship trophy and the Dewar Shield medals will be presented. A letter from A. Malcolm, referee in the Tahora-Tangarakau match, alleging that a letter written to him by the secretary of the Whangamomona Sub-Union was insulting, was “received,” the meeting holding that there Avas nothing to complain of in the letter. A grant of £5 wa s made to the Primary Schools Union, to cover expenses in connection Avith the .competition for the Bayly Scholarship. Mr GoodAvin intimated that the Hawera Football Club did not intend to proceed Avith its protest regarding its game with Kaponga, and the protest fee Avas returned. A resolution Avas passed congratulating H. McLean (Star) on being chosen to represent New Zealand. Present at the meeting were Messr g J. McLeod (chairman), R. Masters, W. H. Moyes, J. GoodAvin, J. Paterson, B .H. Young, G. H. Percy, J Garcia, J GoodAvin, W .A. Guy, and S. Nielson (secretary!.
