ACCLIMATISATION
MEETING OF SOCIETY. The Stratford Acclimatisation Society met last night, Mr J- Petrie over the following members, Messrs K. Pegg, C. Atkinson, % G. A. Gaw, E. C. Worthington, fe H. Kivell. Messrs Pegg, Knewstubb, Richardson and Green were appointed a "Pheasant Hatching" Committee to supervise this part of, the Society's operations. The remaining members of the Society were constituted a Fish Hatchery Committee. A discussion arose on whether It was better to liberate fry (fish 6 or 8 weeks' old), or yearlings. Following this the chairman and secretary were authorised to interview the curator of the hatcheries, Mr Jones, regarding the cost of raising 500 yearling trout. "The visiting committee reported that the firsh at the hatchery w.»re hatching out and developing well. The curator reported that the Brown and Rainbow trout try were an extremely good lot. The appointment of the next visiting committee was left in the hands of the secretary. It was decided that if sufficient ground was available, two additional pens for the breeding o f, pheasants should be erected on Mr A. David's property. The pens would be the same as those already erected excepting they might be a little lower to prevent the birds injuring themselves by flying against the wirenetting. The matter of purchasing the necessary material was left in the I hands 'of Mr E, C. A. Gaw.
