THE WELFARE OF TEACHERS.
According to the meeting: of teachers hold to discuss matter s affecting the scholastic profession, says the Auckland Star, there is general concurrence on the need for increase of salaries, but a somewhat sharp divergence of opinion on the ways and means to he adopted to attaia that end. Another meeting shortly is to consider, under the auspices of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute, the Departmental proposal for the unification of education control whereby all primary, secondary and technical teacher s will be under one direction, one board and salary basis. Discussion on the vital aspects of such a revolutionary reorganisation scheme will then take place.
