The central earthquake committee has been advised that partial restoration work at Murchison for winch up to two thousand pounds was authorised, is expected to be completed in about two. week's time. The committee decided that work on similar lines be carried out in; other districts under the supervision of the Public Works Department. Local committees are to look after the restoration of houses in their districts and the return of refugees is to be arranged as far as possible on a uniform basis. Local committees are to bo requested to submit a detailed statement of expenditure out of their local fund. A Government officer with local knowledge will be used to assess the losses on form properties.
